Jurist Who Co Founded Memphis Tennessee
Memphis, Tennessee, is a perfect blend of bustling metropolis and southern hospitality. It’s the birthplace of the blues, a center for art and culture, and host to the world’s largest annual barbecue competition. But there’s another event that makes Memphis one of the most important cities in the country. Some folks might even call it a miracle.
The Memphis International Airport is home to FedEx’s global “superhub,” which processes hundreds of thousands of packages for shipping every night between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. What happens during those hours is a dance between humans and technology so tightly choreographed that a single package or envelope can be found and rerouted in just seconds. This extraordinary process is known by FedEx employees as the Midnight Miracle in Memphis.
Serious logistics
Jim Brown, a Sales Account Executive visiting the FedEx company, was one of the lucky guests taken on a tour of the Memphis FedEx hub on a warm March night. “Being a customer of FedEx, you just expect your packages to be delivered on a timely basis,” Brown remarked when recalling his late-night visit to the FedEx Memphis hub. “But to see the process first hand and the amount of planning and coordination that goes on, it’s absolutely incredible.”
