Jurist Interpret Sharia
Postmodernism is a philosophy. A philosophy is a way of understanding the world. A powerful philosophy like postmodernism can lead to a movement in art or culture reflective of its tenets. So what are the tenets of postmodernism? What does postmodernism mean?
Postmodernism is similar to what many people refer to as relativism, the belief that there is no absolute truth, that all truth is relative to each individual or each cultural group. Relativism is not a new concept; it’s been with us for centuries.
The Sticky Wicket of Relativism
If you’ve ever seen a jury trial you’ve seen relativism in action. The attorneys question different witnesses about what happened. Each witness provides a different interpretation of what occurred. Assembling the different interpretations the jury begins to assemble an idea of the truth. Yet each individual jurist differs in their interpretation of what they’ve heard, so they must meet in sequestration to hash it out, to try to reach a consensus about the truth.
